"It all started with a roll of Duct Tape"

Duct tape…we LOVE it! In fact, we use it so much – it’s practically a part of the family! But here’s the thing: When we need it – we need it NOW! And when we use it…we want clean, straight, perfect cuts – EVERY time. Most people have had a moment in time when they have said: "Where's the Duct Tape - I need a piece RIGHT NOW!"

Back in 2006…this was a real problem…

We searched high & low looking for a Heavy Duty Tape Dispenser for Duct tape and we couldn't find one, so…we did what any red-blooded American inventor would do – we invented one! The Tape Wrangler 700 was born in 2006.

Maybe this is a good time to let you in on how our brains work. When we are designing a product, the first thing we do is really think through what would be an ideal solution. We talk about design features…ask a bunch of people what their ideal would be. At the risk of sounding corny…we really think “differently”… or outside the box…and “blue sky” the possibilities of the design. It was during this process that we kept hearing the same thing: I know I have a roll of duct tape around here somewhere…but where is it?! It was this issue that inspired our mounting bracket/docking station and the phrase, “Never lose your duct tape again!”

Another inspiration for our design: we insisted all Tape Wrangler packing tape guns are to be made in the USA – in fact…they are all made right here in Northern Michigan (look at the palm of your right hand – we are in the area of Michigan that is about at the tip of your ‘ring’ finger – little Michigan geography lesson for ya!). Of course…this is a business – so we had to create a design where it makes economic sense to make them here in our homestate of Michigan….so we did! You’ll notice our products have very few parts but are designed with very little room for error in manufacturing…

TA DA! That means very little labor & well made molds & products – all economic advantages in Michigan! We can keep jobs in our community and sell our products at a price that is competitive in the market place.

Tape Wrangler packaging tape dispenser products have been very well received; we've sort of hit a nerve with folks. The cool thing for us has been the people we have met who go out of their way to thank us and tell their stories. We get great ideas for new products or new uses for our current products from our friends and our customers; and we are truly grateful. We concentrate on creating specialty products that add value to both consumer households and professional/industrial applications. Our products are made exclusively in the United States to exacting standards.

OK, so in the beginning, we expected the Tape Wrangler 700 (named because it holds a roll of heavy duty tape up to 70 yards long!) to be our only product. I guess we were pretty naive; because it didn't take long before we released our next product, the Tape Wrangler 700S (S is for ‘safety’). We added a few safety features to our original design in 2007. People really seem to like these two products, so we were on our way!

The best part of launching the Tape Wrangler branded family of products has been the feedback we get from people we meet. Hearing from customers has been awesome.

It was our customers who inspired us to design our shipping tape gun, the

Tape Wrangler ProSeal 200D. They appreciated the features of our 700 & 700S;

but kept asking if it would work for shipping & packing tapes. We designed the ProSeal 200D (D for Deluxe; 200 for 2” wide tape) to improve upon those awkward traditional tape guns that are a pain to use. (See the "Dare To Compare" page to see the differences.) The Tape Wrangler ProSeal 200D is lighter weight, better balanced and includes not just a mounting bracket/docking station, but also a permanent marker pen, box cutter knife and self retracting 4 foot tape measure!
